We are pleased to welcome Pat Whitney — our newest placement from Companis, a fellow nonprofit in Seattle that matches skilled professionals with year-long volunteer and stipend-supported service opportunities throughout King and Snohomish counties. Pat is our 32nd Companis-facilitated placement since our founding in 2006!

Pat joined us in July and is utilizing her skills and background in a number of strategic projects and initiatives, touching on everything from programs, to marketing, to fundraising and more.

Although she is relatively new to us, she is no stranger. She first heard of our work as two of her close friends were individual donors. A third friend was a former client with Project Access Northwest who benefited from our care coordination program.

Pat comes to us, having retired from Seattle University, where she worked for 13 years. She started her career there as an executive assistant for the Vice President in development (University Relations) and then transitioned to executive coordinator to the Dean of the College of Science and Engineering. What inspired her in the role was the daily interactions she had working with the professors, staff and students.

When she is not working, Pat enjoys daily walks and is an avid, almost voracious reader. This is not a surprise, as she earned a degree in Renaissance and English Tudor/Stuart History. She also holds a Management Certificate from Santa Clara. When asked if there was one book, she recommends we all read, she suggested two: The Plantagenets (non-fiction) and A Gentleman from Moscow (fiction).

Consider those on our reading list.
