Project Access Northwest is proud to wrap up our current grant award from the Kaiser Permanente National Community Benefit Fund at the East Bay Community Foundation in support of our Care Coordination Program. This critical investment helped ensure that uninsured and underinsured individuals across Washington State had access to the comprehensive, whole-person health care they deserve.
The one-year grant award (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026) strengthened and expanded our care coordination services, which connect individuals to essential medical, dental, and behavioral health care at no cost to the client. Through our statewide network of more than 2,500 volunteer providers and community partners, Project Access Northwest care coordinators help remove barriers to care by scheduling specialty appointments, arranging interpretation services when necessary, and helping clients navigate complex health systems.
For many individuals living with limited income and little or no insurance coverage, specialty health care can feel out of reach. Thanks to this continued partnership with Kaiser Permanente, Project Access Northwest was able to deepen provider partnerships, enhance client support services, and increase our capacity to serve more people in need.
A key part of this partnership includes the specialty care services provided by Kaiser Permanente providers for Project Access Northwest clients. During the grant period, uninsured and underinsured individuals received specialty care through Kaiser Permanente providers, helping patients access timely and often life-changing medical services that would otherwise be unavailable to them. Through this collaboration, patients gained access to vital specialty care services including Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Physical Therapy, and Urology. These services play an essential role in helping individuals receive timely diagnoses, treatment, and ongoing care that can dramatically improve quality of life and long-term health outcomes.
The impact of these specialty care appointments extends far beyond individual medical visits. Each appointment represents a person who was able to address a health concern, receive expert medical guidance, and take an important step toward improved health and well-being. For many clients, access to specialty care can mean earlier diagnosis, reduced pain, restored vision or mobility, improved management of chronic conditions, and greater peace of mind.
This funding reflects a shared commitment to advancing health equity and ensuring that every person—regardless of income, background, or insurance status—has access to timely, coordinated, and compassionate care. We are deeply grateful to Kaiser Permanente and the East Bay Community Foundation for their partnership and continued investment in healthier communities across Washington State.
